The Tennessee Titans gave it away this evening to the visiting Baltimore Ravens. Gave it away on turnovers 4 times and that's it for the 2008-2009 season. One and done. Choke. Soiled themselves.
The turnovers in scoring position are the most galling aspect of what was there for the taking so much of the night. Lendale White. Kerry Collins, Crumpler. Ugh.
Here's what faces this team now:
- How hard do they try to keep Albert Haynesworth? The conventional tailgate wisdom is that they won't have Albert next season nor should they mortgage the practice bubble to do so.
- Will Kerry Collins get a starting job somewhere else? He's a free agent and thinks that he can manage the game for another team as a starter again. Uh, think again.
- Is Vince Young the QB again next year? He's shown nothing to indicate he's got the emotional game or the skills. The tailgate buzz is try to trade him, like to Houston, because they love him there and he loves himself there.
- Will Jim Schwartz be the defensive coordinator next year or does he get a shot a the top job somewhere? Could we get Greg Williams back?
- Will people care again in the regular season? What could the Titans do next season that would impress anyone until they win a playoff football game? Nada. I may not pay attention, or pay for a ticket, until and unless they get another chance to win a playoff game.
The pieces will be there for another run next winter, but a whole lot of things went right for this team.
Until tonight. And now Titans fans want to forget a damn good regular season.
